Grant Permissions: MileIQ needs access to your location to automatically track your drives. When prompted, allow the app to access your location always, even when the app is in the background. You don’t need to manually start or stop tracking – the app runs in the background and logs all your drives. Classifying Drives: After each drive, MileIQ will notify you to classify the trip. Swipe right to classify a drive as business-related or left for personal. This helps you keep your business and personal miles separate. You can also set rules for frequent trips to be automatically classified, saving you time. Viewing Your Drives: Tap on the “Drives” tab to view all your recorded drives. You can see details like the date, time, distance, and classification of each trip. If you need to reclassify a trip, simply tap on it and swipe left or right to update its classification. Generating Reports Creating IRS-Compliant Reports: Go to the “Reports” section to generate a mileage report. You can select a specific date range or generate a report for the entire year. MileIQ will create an IRS-compliant report that you can download, email to yourself, or share directly with your accountant. Customizing Reports: Customize your reports by adding details like the purpose of the trip or the business category. This makes it easier to track deductions and reimbursements.
